★ Correct washing method
Carefully read the washing signs on the clothes
The wool content in clothing varies, and the methods of washing and maintenance vary. Some are suitable for hand washing, while others are suitable for dry cleaning. The maintenance methods described in the washing label on clothing may vary depending on the type of wool used. Specially processed clothing materials may also have special advantages.
★ Water washing of woolen sweaters
When washing woolen sweaters, neutral detergent or detergent should be used for washing. If alkaline detergents used for daily laundry are used, they can easily damage the wool fibers. The washing water temperature should be around 30 ℃. If the water temperature is too high, it can cause the woolen sweater to shrink and felt again, while if the water temperature is too low, it will reduce the washing effect.
In washing, except for woolen sweaters labeled as "super washable" or "machine washable", it is generally necessary to wash them carefully by hand. Do not use hand or a washing board to rub them severely, and do not use a washing machine to wash them. Otherwise, there will be felt formation between the wool fiber scales, which will greatly reduce the size of the woolen sweater. Machine washing can easily damage and break down woolen sweaters.
Before washing a sweater, it is generally necessary to have a clear understanding or mark the heavily stained areas in order to carefully clean them during washing. This can achieve the goal of cleanliness without damaging the sweater.
When washing woolen sweaters of different colors, it is generally not advisable to treat them in the same bath to prevent contamination between different colors.
After the woolen sweater is washed, it shall be rinsed with clean water until there is no sewage and foam. After rinsing, the wool sweater should be lightly pressed to remove water, then placed in a mesh bag and hung until all the water drops have been dropped. Then air dry the knitted sweater by spreading it flat on a flat surface, or by threading the sleeves of the sweater onto a bamboo pole and gently flattening it to air dry the entire sweater. Avoid using a clothes hanger to dry. When drying, it is generally recommended to dry thoroughly in weak light or in a cool and ventilated place. Do not expose to the scorching sun to avoid damaging the woolen sweater.
For chemical fiber products, due to their high strength, they will not shrink, so they can be washed with water according to the general washing method. But for some products with loose structures and surface loops or burrs, it is best not to use a washing machine for washing, as it may damage the fabric.
Only clothes with a pure wool or wool blend label indicating that they can be dried can be machine dried. There is a label on the washing that allows drying, indicating that using a dryer for drying is safe.
After washing and drying, woolen sweaters generally need to be ironed to restore their original style for easy wearing or storage. Before ironing, woolen sweaters need to be fitted with ironing plates or shaped. When ironing, woolen sweaters are suitable for ironing with a steam iron at a temperature of 135-145 ℃; Worn woolen sweaters are suitable for ironing with an electric iron at a temperature of 120~160 ℃. When ironing, the woolen sweater needs to be covered with a wet white cloth to provide moisture.
★ Dry cleaning is also commonly used for washing woolen sweaters
Dry cleaning is a cleaning method that uses petroleum based solvents and oil-insoluble volatile organic solvents such as perchloroethylene to remove oil soluble stains in a rotary drum washing machine. This method is suitable for a wide range of applications, with minimal deformation of the sweater and no color leakage, but requires certain equipment to carry out. If the woolen sweater fabric can be dry cleaned, there should be a dry cleaning label on the washing label.
